!NKREDIBLE

Product Image

A Higly Advanced Technology Becomes a Brand

!NKREDIBLE is describing the way of production of the inks, respectively their pigments. The chromatic inks from those sets contain pigments that are manufactured using a particular technology.

Chromatic pigments are forming as fairly small particles in a wet, water-based environment, by composition of certain chemicals. After they are precipitated, they need to be separated from water and remaining unprocessed components by filtering and - looking at the conventional pigment production - subsequent drying.

During drying, the single pigment particles are loosing their distance due to the absence of the water, creating growingly large particles which have to be dispersed and crushed again, when grinding the dried pigment with the vehicle at high energy expense to make printing ink

Drying pigment also requires a lot of energy. Following the !NKREDIBLE process, the drying step is skipped and special varnishes are mixed with the still wet, very fine particle pigment. The goal is to replace all water around the pigment by varnish and decant the water after it has separated on top of the new mixture.

Although this manufacturing technology also needs quite a bit of time, energy and experience, the benefits are omnibus:

  • energy is saved, lowering the carbon footprint of the ink
  • the pigment particles are homogenously fine
  • colours are vibrant and very intensive
  • pigments show excellent transparency

Reap the benefits of our !NKREDIBLE inks family.

Gecko Frontal Alu

Mono solvent printing inks for flexible packaging

A full colour range of pigmented nitrocellulose printing inks, designed for gravure printing applications on aluminium and plastic foils. This series is also available as a mono solvent ink series (Gecko Frontal Alu MS).

Application

Flexible packaging for food and beverage products. The Gecko Frontal Alu Series is specific for aluminium but can also be used for surface printing on chem PET, acrylic-coated-BOPP, paper and BOPP. It can be used on BOPP for lamination. The lamination bond depends on the substrate quality, on the type of adhesive and the amount applied. Evaluate before printing that the surface treatment of PP is ≥ 38 dynes/cm. When printed on PP (except in the case of Acrylic coated PP), all the inks of the series should be activated with our recommended Adhesion promoter in the amount of 5% (please consult technical team for the same.

Use in surface printing

Gecko Frontal Alu can be used for the applications of external standard printing. When not protected by over print varnish we suggest to add our special Additive Wax Paste in the amount of 2-4% in order to assure greater scratch resistance. This additive increases the scratch and rub resistance but does not have to be added for applications intended for lamination. If the application requires high mechanical resistance or bears high blocking risk, the use of a dedicated Gecko Frontal ink series is strongly recommended. For applications where ink-to-ink contact may occur (such as in folded packages, or where packages are stacked) Gecko® Frontal Alu should not be used.

Print Process

Rotogravure for surface printing and lamination.

Fountain Solutions

Product Image

Huber fount solution additives stand out thanks to their high degree of compatibility with different printing inks and configurations, and they are renowned for the fact that a stable ink/water balance can be formulated very quickly with them. And it goes without saying that they harmonise particularly well with those inks that originate from our own R&D labs.

This is because the aspirations are identical and so too the equally high standard of technology and production that has evolved over the past decades. This is precisely the "hums" on which consistently high quality flourishes.

Suitability for 8-color Perfecting:

When food and confectionery packages are to be manufactured, the requirement laid down for such products must be fulfilled:
- avoidance of changes in the smell and taste of the package contents
- migration must remain within the limits set
- the colours of the package contents must not change
Further information on this subject can be found in the information sheet entitled "Printing Inks for Food Packages” published by the Association of Printing Ink manufacturers.
High requirements with respect to sensory effects are fulfilled by our CORONA-GA 5015(low odour* and CORONA-H GA 5028) 10w odour* and low-hexanali ink senes.
If the printing stock used for manufacturing the packaging possesses adequate barrier properties. There is no migration into packaging contents. In the case of special requirements specifying the avoidance of migration to the greatest possible degree, we recommend you use our sheetfed offset ink senes CORONA-MGA 5045 (low migration sensory-neutral, suitable for absorbent stocks only).

Additives

RAPIDA process color is supplied ready to use. Under exceptional circumstances, to adapt the process inks to special printing conditions, additives should be used which are compatible with the highly developed binder system.
Use Paste Reducer 10 T 9999 or Gel Tack Reducer PM - 2004 for reducing the tack on printing substrates sensitive to picking,
To accelerate oxidative drying, use MONSUN 10 S 726501 paste drier Quick Fix PC—0605.
